The Uvalde CISD Athletic Department requires athletes to have a new UIL Physical every year they compete in extra-curricular activities. All forms must be completed each year before an athlete can participate in tryouts, practices and games.
All students in U.C.I.S.D have a right to academic curriculum and programs offered through our district. However, athletic participation within the U.C.I.S.D is a privilege that carries additional expectations for acceptable conduct. Students engaging in athletics not only represent themselves, but also other students, the community and the school district when competing. For this reason, their behavior must be exemplary and reflect the finest attributes of the U.C.I.S.D student body at all times and places. Because participation in athletics is a privilege and not a right, U.C.I.S.D is authorized to set higher standards for participants than it would for those students who choose not to participate in these activities. Therefore, this Athletic Handbook extends beyond the U.C.I.S.D Student Code of Conduct not only in types of behavior prohibited, but also in corresponding consequences and jurisdiction for imposing discipline. This Athletic Handbook will be enforced with all student grades 7-12 participating in athletics. An athlete is bound by the policy at school, on school sponsored trips, or anywhere else in public as their actions are a reflection on the Uvalde Athletic Program.

Character Attitude Responsibility Ethics: Sportsmanship and UIL Athletics: The UIL is dedicated to offering character-building, educational competition to member school students in Texas. In an attempt to give appropriate athletic competition to our student-athletes, it is imperative that we have a policy in place addressing the correct and incorrect way to conduct oneself as it pertains to UIL sanctioned events, whether it be in practice, competition or outside the athletic arena.
Previous Athletic Participation Form: All students in grades 9-12 who have ever practiced or participated in any UIL activity in grades 8-12 at another school must have this form completed by the previous school (last school of participation) and be approved by the District Executive Committee before they are eligible to participate at the varsity level at the new school.
This MEDICAL HISTORY FORM must be completed annually by parent (or guardian) and student in order for the student to participate in activities. These
questions are designed to determine if the student has developed any condition which would make it hazardous to participate in an event.
All UCISD athletes must travel with the team. All athletes must return with the team unless, prior to the trip, a parent or guardian has completed the Student Travel Release form that entitles the athlete to be released to the custody of the parents 2 to 5 days prior to the activity or event.
